Exploring the art of music

Hailing from a family of musicians, I was initiated into music at the age of 4 by my grandmother. The love for music that my family members have instilled in me inspires me to pursue it as a career. Having developed a good understanding of the basics of Carnatic music, I subsequently conquered all aspects of the theoretical aspect of Carnatic music by exposing myself to various workshops and sessions handled by professionals. I completed my Advanced Diploma in Carnatic Music from The Music Academy, Chennai, and my B.Com Degree from M O P Vaishnav College, Chennai. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Business Administration from Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore.

I have participated in various competitions and programs across prestigious sabhas in Chennai during the famous Margazhi season, right from a tender age. In addition to the Carnatic solo performances, I was a prominent member and led my school team in taking part in various interschool music competitions and cultural events. Being the cultural secretary for music during the academic year 2019 gives me opportunities to lead a band, represent my school, and conduct various cultural events at the school level. I was fortunate to sing in front of Maestro Isaignani Ilayaraja for his album. My notable performances include the Ragakadamba series for IIT Madras in 2021 and the Thematic Concert for DD Podhigai National Television.

My notable awards include an endowment cash award from Music Academy Madras for outstanding academic performance during the final year of the Diploma course from the Advanced School of Carnatic Music, Music Academy 2021–22; an Excellence in Fine Arts Award from MOP Vaishnav College, winner of the HINDU MARGAZHI contest in the Carnatic vocal category, 2020; and Smt. Neela Jagadeesan’s Best Singer Endowment Award in PSBBSS School in 2008 and 2011. I have also been a recipient of government and Bharat Kalachar scholarships for music since 2013. I also received the title ‘Yuvashri Kala Bharati’ from the Tamil Nadu State government for the field of fine arts.

Music has been my strong passion since childhood, and my devotion and interest in the art form will remain forever. Learning and exploring different forms of music is a never-ending process and will.
